Here’s to the Most Opinionated Person in Office

He might be a person with a condescending attitude and an opinion about everything in life- from office loo to ‘much expected’ clients. But I have started to like his company off late, because he, I have seen, can strike interesting conversations with anyone and everyone.  Actually, I’m his evening driverJ. I drop him off till CR Park , and during this 45 minutes drive we have fascinating conversation on what needs to be changed  in this country to this company.

We rant about our day and pass opinions and comments about other people and  colleagues. Only yesterday, he was telling me about this girl in office, and to quote him, “what a beauty she is, and I fail to understand why all the guys in this office are idiots; why are they not eyeing her?” and he being he will not buy any of the explanations such as what is she already has a BF (it’s her prob- says him) or what if they all have GFs (  they are wasting their time and are idiots then). I think, he must be regretting that he is married, well though he did not say so…hehehe.
oh! by the way he doesnt find this other 'quite pretty' girl in office pretty, coz as per him she is dumb, and a dumb women can never be attractive. :D

But all in all, he is a good company, some times a bit annoying and mostly loud, but he is an intelligent  guy  and like me has a thing for bitching and cribbing. :D

P.S.- You better not start on  politics or sports with him, he can talk about it without eating or drinking for days…he is a BONG!

Dont Mess With Me!

First week at new office -you know how boring first week usually is- if you know what I mean. You have to be at your best, it is worse than first week of your marriage. Where you still have a chance to chide your husband in private ;-). Anyway, here in fact I am not feeling even a bit bored. Instead I am happy that I am away from that blighted soul (at earlier office)- where I had to constantly work on my will and somehow keep myself from the impulse and strong desire of bunging my Blackberry handset at him at a speed of 200km/h J.

But you know every place or office has its own, well-reputed, blighter(s). But trust me, if this time, forget about messing up with me, some irritant tries to say even ‘HI’ to me they are in for fractured ribs.

Geee…I can be a real devil sat times. Now I have scared myself too.

Back from the Press Conference- Yawnnnn

I have just come back from a press conference(was playing good Samaritan- colleague’s client) and now I am dead tired. Well, media turned up, as expected finally, infact more than 50  people came.

I am happy that I went to this press con, even though I am like a dead chicken now, because I have pitched my clients to a couple of the financial newspapers.

The Economic Times, biggest financial paper here in India, has agreed to have a telephonic interview with my client tomorrow and the business Standard has asked for more details.I have also met many new journalists.

Attending this conference and giving a helping hand to Shweta, my colleague, was successful for me too- kind of killed two birds with a stone( well, i will really hate to kill a bird) :-D

I am looking forward to many more such press conferences. :)

Wohhoo Got a Dragon Tattoo

I have got one more tattoo done over the weekend. I am not very happy with my first tattoo, and ever since I have got that, I wanted to get one more and, most probably, my last tattoo.
Well, it didn't take  much of an effort to persuade my husband (Gawd! I love him). On Saturday we both went to Mike studio at CR Park.BTW, he has got a cool and hip studio( he isn't paying me for this). I like the way they have done their tattoo shop. They even have a big aquarium. Anyway, we were directed to these two guys, who looked as if they are on drugs and have not taken bath for ages (but may be that is their idea of being COOL).
Hmmm, I did not have anything in mind but I was certain that I wanted to get it on my lower back and it should have my husband’s name. So, this guy showed us atleast a hundred pictures and after one hour of scrutinizing and discussion, I decided, I want a dragon, but, I did not like any of the pictures they had. Though, I did like one of the picture, but only its body, not the face. So finally this guy, who trued out to be a graduate in fine arts, sketched the face and name which looks like as if flames are coming out of the dragon’s mouth.

They also put some cream to numb the area so that it didn't pain,  however, he had to apply something else too to numb it during the process- when i started flinching. I was really very pleased with the professional attitude of this guy (read Ramesh)

It took him two and a half hour to do this job. But i dont mind, I really like my tattoo.

PS.- I don’t like the tattoo I have got from Devilz tattoo’s. That guy also lacks a professional attitude. Infact I had given him a call on Friday, as he was the only artist I knew till Friday, and know what, that jerk put me on the hold while has was chatting and laughing. Therefore, I cut the line, and thought, Dude you just lost a business of INR 15000. Duhhh.

My Day

I made a record today! Today, first time in my life, I woke up at 4am (had to go to airport). Never ever before, even during final exams, I made such an effort. Yet, I went back to sleep at 5am, over slept, and reached office at 11am.
Day at office had been good so far until this thing happened.

There is a disagreement on an annul plan between my boss and the corporate communications lady and what is worst they both are talking to me instead of talking to each other. While my boss wants me put something in the plan the lady is asking to remove that thing entirely and put something else. My boss is bit flexible here and is okay if I incorporate the suggestion this lady is making.
Now I don’t know who to please the corp. comm. or the boss, or shall I instead make two different plans and send each what they want. Actually it seems to be a nice idea! :)
Let’s see what I do finally.
Ohh yeah one more of my fish has died today! :(

Going to Himachal

I am all geared up to go to my home town tonight. To the Picturesque lush green Himachal. My husband and daddy are going to drive all night long and my sister in law and I shall be sleeping and chatting on the back seat. Well, I am planning to visit some nice places there such as Riwalsar, Nainadevi Temple, Jwalaji and let’s see what more. I will upload lot of pictures here.
And a big thanks to Rahul(my colleague) while I will be having fun out there he will be taking care of all my (four) clients. Coordinating with media and scolding me.

PR 2.0 or Marketing, I don't care! Let me work

Yesterday I did extensive research for how to go about doing PR 2.0 for a mobile launch. I consulted some bloggers and my twitter social media expert friends and all the possible people I could. Well, my team wanted to invite bloggers to some place for product launch. Since, most of them were not based out of this region and this phone is a not-so-well-known-brand. So we had two options:

Pay for their flight tickets and hotel bills ( but still were not sure that they will come)

OR
Engage them by some online activity
The online activity could be something like send some top bloggers a handset for review and explore an opportunity to run a contest on those respective blogs. The winner (1-2 or what ever my boss decides) will get a handset. We could run this parallel on the client’s website too.

I said, this will possibly result in to links and can get viral. We will get good online visibility.

A senior colleague of mine jumped in to a conclusion before I could finish. He said,’ oh you don’t know what is PR 2.0 what ever you are saying is marketing.’ You know I am a social media expert and I have bashed many well know bloggers but they haven’t said anything, and he jabbered name of some well know blogger.

Well I did not fight back but I was thinking yaahhh!! right they did not reply coz what ever you write on I am sure will be such a tiny thing that no one apart from you will ever come across it. And besides they know there are many dumb creatures like you and prefer to ignore negligible things like you.

Well, so much so, we are not going ahead with Social media campaign; I was so excited about.

This isn’t funny; you Stupid Client of mine!

Angry Bella

Yesterday one of my clients came to Delhi. We have fixed a few media interactions for him. Since I service that account I had to coordinate for all this. Well, the interactions went well. However, that client of mine put is best efforts to annoy me.
Today is going to some place to unwind him self by doing yoga, till week end, and invited me to that place. So I declined politely. When the interactions were over, it was late evening, he insisted to drop me home in his car.
He asked if I will like to have dinner with him, which I again declined. But he went on to say, I shall call you and you can join me for dinner. So I said I have some other engagement, therefore, I am afraid I will not be able to join you. Thank god he did not call me!
However, he sent me a sms around 8:30pm some stupid joke, which we used to crack in call five, but I did not reply. Even this could not break his spirit and he sent the same sms to me next day with a good day note added to it. Finally I sent a thank you and same to your, sir sms.
Suddenly I received reply of the coverage I have sent him about two weeks back. And of course he highly appreciated me for my efforts. How funny, same email could not catch his attention a couple of weeks back
Any way I have discussed everything with my boss, who says that if this client gets out of control I have the liberty to shift from this account.
Curse you (client)! I was doing all the research, tracking the trends and now these stupid traits of your will make me handover everything to someone else……

I am loving it :)

I am writing after a long long time. All this time I was too busy with personal and professional life of mine. On personal front my parents are talking about my marriage with my boyfriend. My parents have met my beau’s mother and sisters. So one can understand how busy I must have been.
On professional side I have shifted from financial and life science PR team to technology team. Well, though I am more than excited to handle tech. clients, nevertheless, I don’t know anything about technology. I am a tech moron, as my BF calls me, and all this time I was happy that I know how to send /read an email or how to chat [where to chat ;-)] and a little bit about bloggin. However, now it seems, I have to work hard. Learn about technology atleast about the things in which my clients operate. I used to get bore whenever my beau try to teach me or talk about technology. But yesterday I asked him to help me understand what data centre is?

All in all a lot of things are happening in my life…and so far I like it.

Friends forever

This morning I got a g mail ping from a friend cum former colleague of mine. She wrote, “Hey! Even Kunal has put in his papers. What are you waiting for?” As soon as I read it, I rushed to Kunal and bombarded him with questions; " You did not tell me you have resigned! Where have you joined? When are you leaving?" i asked him. He took me to our usual hangout “The Staircase”. Initially, he was not forthcoming. But as he realised that there is no escaping without answering me; he finally gave up and confided into me. teddy bear
We discussed about all the offers he had, and decided which one was the best. After the meeting i was feeling a bit uneasy, the trouble is that i can't share these details with anyone, I can't even put it on my blog, because I have promised Kunal to keep things to myself only.

In the recent past, quite a few people have quit and more colleagues have put in their papers. Although new people are joining the team, all good friends are leaving the organization. In fact they too are asking me to change. But I am ambivalent about leaving this place and there are reasons. Sanna’s office is nearby so we have lunch together and return home together. My boss is a great writer, and he is helping me in improving my writing skill. I also share a good rapport with my boss and I am scared at the prospects of what if I get a bad boss in new office?

Well, as far as my shifting is concerned lets see what happens to it. But I am sure as hell that I am going to miss my friends.

Make people love you...

Destiny plays an immense role in our lives. I still wonder how unlikely it was for me and Sanna to meet. We belong to different states, different cultures, work in different companies, and are completely different personalities. But today we have become inseparable.

smiley
Likewise a few days back I took a gentleman out for a media round, I don’t even service that account. I took him just to help a colleague who also happens to be a friend. On the way we (client and I) started chatting on different things and by the end of our round we became friends. I learned a lot of things from him such as how to give a little personal touch to your otherwise business relationship without overdoing it.

We were discussing about cooking and he claimed to be a good cook. Latter he told me that he had lost his mother at the age of 13; he was the eldest with a 9-year old brother and 4-year old sister. So he had to cook everyday before going to school that's how he become a great cook. He talked about his first love in life; to become an actor. But his father asked him to think of something sensible instead.

At around 48-year of age he is working as a vice president with a big company; is happily married, and has a very cute son and loving son. He has gone through the thick and thin in life, and he has forgotten nothing about his past, which I think has helped him not be bigheaded in life.

While climbing up the stairs of my home I pledged not to be arrogant ever in my life. As I know being proud will only make me miss beautiful things in life.

Working Hard :(

After working hard all five days of the week I get weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for my self. But unfortunately almost every alternative weekend I am working as my clients organize all the events, parties on weekends.

I was working all Saturday in office in order to secure good coverage for one of my clients and to get P3 media for the other client’s event, which happened on Sunday.

Not only I had to work on weekends, but when I come to office on Monday morning, I came to know one of the clients interview is happening in two publications, I did not even know the venue. Both of my team members (seniors) were inaccessible, and I had to rush to the interview site after a long discussion with the other branch.

Some time I wonder am I the only person who is working so hard?
